Historic Restoration
City Plastering also offers historic reproduction and restoration work. We are able to work on site for interior or exterior historic restorations. We specialize in designing and custom crafting silicone moulds for reproductions of artifacts, monuments, architectural elements and ornamentation to walls and ceilings in plaster or precast concrete.
The original cast detail was showing signs of deterioration after many years of environmental weathering. In cases where details are completely missing or unrecognizable, research of historic pictures and library archives are used as visual aids to recreate the detail by hand carving.
Back at the shop using various techniques, we are able to restore the cast sample to its original sharp detailing it once had in order to recreate a new Master Plug. Customer approval sign-off happens at this stage.
After the sign-off approval we can then begin designing and crafting a custom silicone and/or FRP (fibres reinforced plastics) mould for reproduction of the new Master Plug.
From the new mould, faithful reproduction castings of originals are possible. We can supply the mould to any precast company for the production of castings or do smaller items ourselves.
